1)CFTR NBD1 contains an insertion of 35 residues between Beta-strands S1 and S2 colored in green.The insertion is made up of two short alpha helices which are separated by a flexible link region.

2)Altered geometry from insertion of 35 residues colored in blue for the base and ribose in NBD1 which can also be deleted and preserve its function.

3)There is also a lack of 14-27 residue between Beta-strands S4 and S6 colored in navy blue. Which in ABC transporter NBDs typically have an additional beta strand and alpha helix.
